BIG SKY MOTION PICTURES is a fresh, vibrant company, balanced on one side by young energetic people with innovative ideas and on the other with veteran business-savvy executives with proven track records.

The greatest assets of any company are its personnel. Big Sky Motion Pictures’ C.E.O. Mars Callahan is a living testament to that, having written, directed and packaged three films by the time he was twenty-eight years old. Most recently, Callahan independently created Poolhall Junkies starring Academy Award® winners Christopher Walken and Rod Steiger, and Academy Award® nominee Chazz Palminteri. The critically acclaimed film was nominated for best sports movie at the 2003 ESPY Awards®. As an actor, Callahan has appeared in films with some of the top box office stars in Hollywood, including Tom Hanks, Charlize Theron, Liv Tyler, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, James Garner, and Martin Short.

Callahan has the unique ability to generate and acquire properties that legendary actors vie to participate in. He directs, edits and oversees post-production. Mr. Callahan has a distinguished track record securing lucrative domestic theatrical and foreign distribution deals for his projects.

Overseeing the production and acquisition of music for Big Sky Motion Pictures is Rand Chortkoff. Mr. Chortkoff is a 30-year veteran music producer and a lifelong devotee of American roots, blues and R&B music. He is also the C.E.O. and founder of Delta Groove Productions, a record label that has established itself as the leader in west coast blues & roots music. His expansive knowledge of these genres combined with his keen ear make him an invaluable asset, as he's proven with a series of award-winning releases, both in the U.S. and abroad. Chortkoff is the executive producer of several notable feature films.

"We make films better, faster, and less expensive
than those made within the studio system."

Big Sky Motion Pictures develops and creates its own projects in-house, without incurring "major studio" expenses. Typically, major studios engage in costly bidding wars over new material, much of which never gets produced. Big Sky generates its own scripts; therefore, as projects are chosen, Big Sky simply makes the film, completely bypassing the time-consuming and expensive development processes that are standard operating procedure within the major studios.

Because the partners at Big Sky have strong relationships with household name actors, they are able to package films with “A list” stars not normally accessible to companies outside the studio system. The stars provide added financial protection for Big Sky's projects; the involvement of such talent ensures a high level of bankability in both domestic and foreign markets.

Additionally, Big Sky Motion Pictures capitalizes on the direct relationships it has with distribution networks, giving it leverage that few independent film companies possess. By independently financing its own projects and distribution, Big Sky is in an advantageous buyer's position when choosing the best distribution partners for each project, rather than the traditional, weaker seller's role of other independent film companies.

Big Sky Motion Pictures maximizes the budgetary assets of its films, and gets more bang for the buck, by taking advantage of its relationships with A-list talent, as well as it’s established relationships with below the line vendors such as Hollywood Global Studios, Panavision, Kodak, and Crest National Post. They shoot their films in cities that help stretch the dollar, such as Salt Lake City, which is in a “right to work” state, or Vancouver, Canada, where the American dollar has an almost 2/1 value ratio over shooting in the U.S. Our goal is to make five million dollar films look like fifteen million dollar films, and fifteen million dollar films look like thirty.

The guiding principle of Big Sky Motion Pictures is very simple: We make quality films that are a joy to watch, and make them faster, better, and less expensively than those made within the studio system.
